Periodicals – databases

ABC-CLIO:  Understanding Controversy and Society is a database LHS subscribes to help students complete the Junior Research Project.  This database offers both primary and secondary sources on over 200 current issues facing society offering multiple sides to the issue.  This site is password protected.  To access (linchigh/linchigh)

 

EbscoHost : EbscoHost is a service LHS subscribes to that allows students to search newspapers, magazine articles, and reference sources simultaneously.  Within Ebsco students can choose to search the following databases: Science, History, or Student Reference Center. Google News : Google News is a new service from Google that searches full text news stories from roughly 4,500 different organizations. It is most useful when searching for news stories that appeared within the last year or two.     

 

Scirus : Scirus is journal article search engine exclusively for scientific information. The information contained in here is a little heavy, but if you know what you’re looking for it’s an excellent tool.

 

Google Scholar : Google Scholar is a  service from Google that searches academic journal articles. Most of the articles are at college-or-above level.
